Sustainability

iMall Japan supports the activities of this organization.

Where are we going...?
I feel like that is what the Earth is being told right now.
Global food waste and poverty issues

What can we do now?
When that happens, how much can we help people?

Let's use this can to help someone else.
For even more irreplaceable moments.

Make someone's number one, more than anyone else.

Konohitokan × iMall Japan

Food is a precious gift from the earth that enriches our lives.

However, we must not forget that even with a rich diet, a lot of food ingredients are wasted.
It is also true that there are many children who do not have enough to eat.

・A rich diet
・Food waste
・Children who cannot eat enough

We stepped up in April 2020 to tackle this problem.

We hope that through iMall Japan, people will learn about our efforts, care for our beautiful planet, and be able to support the bright future of as many children as possible.

Konohitokan

On the other side of our outstretched hand lies our children's future.

General Incorporated Association Konohitokan

"Konohitokan" is a canned food that makes effective use of food waste and contributes to a sustainable society.
We provide support and education by delivering "Konohitokan" to poor children free of charge.
On the other side of our outstretched hand lies our children's future.
We would appreciate your kind support.

Effective use of food waste

Food waste is food that is discarded even though it is still edible.
Food waste in Japan is approximately 5.23 million tons per year, which is roughly 1.2 times the amount of food aid provided to people suffering from hunger around the world (approximately 4.4 million tons per year in 2021).
This equates to about one rice bowl (about 114g) of food being thrown away per person in Japan every day.

Don't you think that's a waste?

Supervised by our head chef! Nutritious and delicious canned food that makes effective use of food waste!

Under the supervision of a head chef who supports our activities, after about a year of trial and error, we have completed two types of canned goods that are nutritious and delicious, making effective use of food waste.
Food waste is purchased from hotels and other places that are discarding food.

The name of the can is "Konohitokan"
It's the same as our organization's name.

We have created meals that are nutritious and delicious for everyone to enjoy, from small children to the elderly.

We deliver Konohitokan to poor children free of charge.

The number of children who are isolated from society is increasing.
Children with various circumstances and worries, such as economic poverty and emotional distress.

It is very important for many adults to be involved in order to prevent children from becoming isolated from society.
We provide emotional support to children and work to develop healthy minds.

We deliver Konohitokan to poor children free of charge.

We believe that a key part of tackling poverty is to "improve children's mental health" by working closely with them to foster a sense of self-esteem.

If we can improve their mental level even little by little, children will be able to live in society with confidence.

In order to "raise the level of their minds," social interaction with children is very important.

Accelerating our contribution to a sustainable society!

In order to steadily continue our activities aimed at a sustainable society and our support and education activities for poor children, we have started selling this product commercially for the first time through iMall Japan.
All profits will be used to cover the costs of our activities.
Accelerating our contribution to a sustainable society and further reducing food waste.
It is our hope that this sustainable canned food, "Konohitokan," will be delivered free of charge to as many poor children as possible.
On the other side of our outstretched hand lies our children's future.
We would appreciate your kind support.

Education

We are also committed to Education for Sustainable Development (ESD).
It is aimed at elementary, middle and high school students.
SDGs lessons were held at each school, using issues such as food waste and poverty as teaching materials.
Through classes on the SDGs, we aim to nurture children who are rich in spirit and healthy.

1,000 Cans Project

Every year we hold a contest where high school students come up with ideas using Konohitokan to solve social issues and give presentations.

Philosophy

Food waste and poverty are two major social issues. Poverty is not just a financial problem, it is also a mental problem. The number of people who cannot take care of themselves or others is increasing.

We came together in April 2020 to tackle this conflicting issue.

In order to contribute to a sustainable society, we aim to reduce food waste and provide canned goods made from food waste to as many poor children as possible free of charge.

Mission

SDGs achievement items
1. End poverty
2. Zero Hunger
4. Quality Education for All
8. Decent work and economic growth
11. Creating a sustainable city
12. Responsible Consumption and Production 17. Partnerships to Achieve the Goals

Mission

The issues of food waste and poverty
We will tackle and aim to solve the issues of food waste, economic poverty, and spiritual poverty.
Through our activities, we will reduce food waste and do our best to support children so that they can learn, think, and act on their own.
Working towards your dreams and goals for the future - you can do it too!
We will do our best to support the children who will represent the future!

Concept

Effective use of food waste
When ingredients are processed at hotels and other establishments, leftover cuts and other food waste that would otherwise be discarded even though it is still edible are effectively utilized to produce nutritious and delicious canned goods.

One can fills you up.
Just mix it with rice and you can cook enough for several people. It is nutritious, can be stored for a long time, and can be used as emergency food in case of disaster.

An opportunity to think about social issues.
Is there something I can do? Is there anything I can do to help someone? By letting people know about our activities, we hope to get them interested in food waste, to encourage them to think about social issues for themselves, and to take action.

vision

Contributing to a sustainable society
We will increase support from companies to reduce food waste. We want more people to know about our activities, and we aim to create a rich society where everyone cares for each other.

A bright future for children
We deliver "Konohitokan", a canned food developed by effectively utilizing food waste, to as many poor children as possible free of charge, providing support and guiding the children to develop their ability to think and become independent.

vision

Initiatives at schools : We use our stories as teaching materials for lessons on sustainability. In class, we teach students the importance of taking action, and guide them to think for themselves.

Events for high school and university students
We are expanding our collaboration with schools and spreading the Konohitokan Project's activities nationwide.
